Discovering the Treasures of Chateau Bellevue

4th Grade Curriculum Guide

Chateau Bellevue, also known as the North-Evans Chateau, is one of Austin’s few surviving large-scale Victorian residences. Built in 1874, the eclectic Romanesque Revival exterior and interior reflect the style fashionable in the late 19th century high society.

Your students can take a step back in time to learn about the rich history and architecture of Chateau Bellevue through the lives of those who lived in the home. Students will learn the Major Ira Hobart Evans’ vital role in Texas history as a soldier, businessman, legislator, and philanthropist.
